asking again about segments

Again I will ask about segments and hopefully this time for an answer.  Can
anyone point me in the direction to learn more about segments?  My data for
my plam vii is not appearing the way it should and I think the reason is
because too much data, and I have read some of your discussions about
segments, but I cannot find any info about them.  Can someone please point
in the direction of how I can learn about them, and implement segments into
my code?
