You can make the argument that a great many features benefit from allowing the
user to customize them in some way (whether its setting a preference or
enabling/disabling the feature). The problem is that if you do this, _all_ of
your users suddenly have a billion little check boxes and popup menus (even
though most of them will be quite happy with the default behavior), and its all
very confusing. So, its better to try to pick the right thing for most of your
users and not have a checkbox. Preferences should be added only when really
necessary.
Now, given that, maybe this is a situation where it would be necessary to add a
preference. If this feature becomes widely abused, it will certainly frustrate
many of our users, and if that happens then maybe we'll add a preference. In
any case, its too late to do this for PalmOS 3.5.
