Let me quote two examples with a hope to end (the non-technical 
part of) this thread ;)

Example 1:
 The built-in on-screen keyboard, a [Done] button.

Example 2:
 My Keyboard Hack, http://palm.pair.com/palmkeyb.html

I guess most hacks which read from the event queue and popup 
a form may need a similar technique.
