Hello all -

New versions of the Palm OS 3.5 rom images have been posted in the Seeding
area of the pavilion; see http://www.palm.com/devzone/pavilion.html to get
them.

The ones added/updated today are the French, German, Spanish and Italian
images. The existing English ones (described as DR4, posted in mid
December) are still current.

Now is a great time to download these images and make sure your app is
compatible. If you've been procrastinating, may I humbly suggest that you
get started? :-)

We're working on producing a top-10 style list of common issues that some
app developers might hit - some of the most common bugs/assumptions in
application that people wouldn't have noticed before, but which now make a
difference. (#1: the screen isn't always in 1 or 2 bit mode!)

None of the device manufacturers (including the Palm device business) have
made announcements about when or how the 3.5 software will be made
available to existing or new customers. However, you as developers have a
head start on the customer base, since you can use these rom images with
the Palm OS Emulator to make sure your apps work as well as you'd like.

Daring developers might even try using the flash install tool that was made
available with the Palm OS 3.3 update, to install 3.5 on their Palm III,
Palm IIIx or Palm V devices. Doing so can be expected to work properly,
assuming you pick the right rom (non-ez for the Palm III devices, ez for
the other two) but do be careful: no official guarantees have been made
about the results.

Your customers (and ours) will appreciate the time you take now to make
sure your apps are bug-free. Thanks!
