Newbie in the same boat, but I got a little further.
I finally was able to download GCC 0.5.0 from here:
http://www.handango.com/product.shtml?productId=1554
Just click on "download a demo". It is 11.7 MB.
I have just gotten into the programming and tried the
tutorial included, but keep getting a "Fatal Exception"
when I download the .prc file to my IIIx.
