  yes and no.. you can also use elementary computational geometry to 
  determine line intersections (without huge math) as long as you
  store the polygons in memory.. 

  you can get access to a single pixel.. WinGetPixel() i believe from
  memory.. but i could be wrong.. check the 3.5 color.pdf file
