the pdq itself is a great device (though the screen is a bit too small).
however it only runs on Sprint's network and their
coverage is only medicore. however their customer service is
absolutely HORRIFIC!! Most (around 70-80%) of their support
personell are completely incompetent. I'd been running an initiative
for our company of 4,000+ employess, for around 1200 of our
cell phone and wireless users, to test them out. after several months of
this evaluation, we are completely dropping all Sprint
related service from the company for at least a year. We will reevaluate
their capabilities after they integrate with MCI/Worldcom,
to see if they've cleaned up their act. Almost every dept in the
company nation wide (at least) rated an average of 1-3 (10 being
a best rating, 1 the worst) with all of our evaluators, including
myself.
We are instead (for now) sticking with using AT&T wireless services
(despite their various short comings, they far exceed Sprint's
abilities), and using a pcmcia wireless card for the laptops and
handheld devices.
In summary, though the device is great, unless they (Qualcomm) make it
usable on other networks besides Sprint's, you will only (likely) be
causing
yourself considerable lost productivity because of all the time you'll
have to spend on hold, and dealing with their various customer
service departments. Average wait times have ranged from 15 minutes
(about the shortest for anyone) to as long as 76 minutes,
before even gettting to speak to a single rep.
hope that helps you in your decisions.
