You can test apps that use the Exchange Manager by using loopback mode 
(shortcut-dot-t). This will cause your device to receive the beam it's sending. The 
Mac simulator is in loopback mode by default, so you can debug that way too. (In fact, 
you can even use loopback mode on a real device.) Note that when using loopback mode 
to the same app (on the same device), you'll have access to globals. Don't assume that 
you'll always have access to globals though!

Testing apps that use the IR Library requires a real device, and it can't be connected 
to the debugger (because the IR port and the serial port share a UART and because the 
OS doesn't support it anyway). You can write directly to the screen, add to the Memo 
Pad's database, etc, but be aware that the IR library is timing-sensitive. Avoid slow 
debug code, particularly during discovery.
