What errors did you have when compiling? If it wouldn't compile, then
it's likely that you don't have the correct libraries installed, and
therefore it won't work even if you have a binary. FWIW, you can get
the Debian i386 binary package at
http://www.debian.org/Packages/unstable/otherosfs/pose.html
Run "ar x pose_3.0a4-1_i386.deb; gzip -dc data.tar.gz|tar xf -" to
extract the contents of the .deb.
