>Can anyone say if the Mac version is better?
I can.
I have used the Mac version of CodeWarrior for about 6 years now.
[ For both Mac and Palm programming. ]
I have found the tools to be stable, and Metrowerks to be fairly responsive
to bug reports. [ Disclaimer: I did some consulting for Metrowerks in 1995-6. ]
The few times I have tried the Windows IDE, I have found it significantly less
stable than the Macintosh version.

IMHO, that depends on what you are used to.
I like MacOS; I know the tools, it would be a big productivity hit for me
to use Visual Studio, say. [ I use VStudio at work about 30% of the time; I find
it awkward and hard to use..... ]
If you have emacs hard-wired into your fingers, you would probably be
happier with a Un*x based development system.
_I_ think the Mac tools are the best; so of course they are (for me).

I don't know either.
