Thanks, John. And now I had better 'fess up before somebody points it 
out: back in August I replied to a similar query from someone else, 
answering my own question!! As Steve said, "Doogghhhhh!"

Now for the puzzling part: my ScoreSheet app has been using 0x20 in the 
ledFont for a couple of years, on OS 1.0, 2.0, 3.0, 3.1, 3.2, and 3.3. 
On all of these, the result is a space. I know it's not supposed to 
work, but it does.

<sigh> Getting all of this stuff right is hard enough, without having 
to contend with these mysteries...
