This is for the 20 or so of you who sent me mail asking for our Palm VII kludge. I found the files and got them to build under R6 at the end of the week. I finally got some time to pick back up with it this evening. I've come across a couple of things I'd like to double check before handing this out: 1. Has the Palm Proxy Server changed? We were never able to get the palm server to pass through connections to port 25, but the port we were using (8002) seems to now be blocked. In fact, the only way I could get it to work at all was to put the mail server on port 80 (the HTTP port). Has anyone else encountered this? What ports are you using for accessing your own servers? Along the same lines, has anyone ever gotten a configuration other than .CTPDefault to work? One other thing, the limit on URL length seemed to get 20 bytes smaller. Anyone else having trouble with submitting large forms? Something that worked maybe a month or two ago and then stopped? 2. Anyone experience weirdness using the INet low level functions under POSE? Under POSE, clipper apps run fine - but my app gets stuck at a socket status of 'waiting for response'. The same PRC works fine on a real VII. I got tired of paying through the nose and waiting for my transmitter to recharge so I tried POSE. Perhaps there is something fickle about the POSE/proxy setup? I couldn't even get a much simpler app: INetLibURLOpen, Read, Close to work under POSE. Again, app seems to work under POSE. I was going to end the message by bellyaching about Linux - since I spent most of my available time this evening struggling with disabling Apache and changing the SMTP port - but it just wouldn't be right. Linux is free and written by volunteers, yet it unquestionably works better than CW-r6-win which was most certainly not free... <no grin, Color out in days, no color support in official tools, a month and counting waiting for the 3.5 SDK...> Back on subject - I'd like to get this thing to work under POSE. I did a quick search and I couldn't find any VII non-clipper apps to download and try. I remember that we couldn't find any code samples when we first started playing with the VII - but it seems like there should be at least a couple of non PDQ apps floating around by now. Anyone have an app that works under POSE so I can at least see if it is POSE-config/our-network-here?
