Correct.

Maybe yes, maybe no. On Pacific Bell GSM you pay about .15/minute (plus any
long distance) to make a data call AND you have to pay an extra $5/mo to
have data calls enabled.

GSM is available Nationwide, but via a patchwork of 5 or so carriers. Voice
roaming works well, but is expensive. (.60/min in some markets). I also
have been unable to send/receive SMS when roaming in some markets, even
though I was able to check voice mail and make/receive voice calls (NYC for
one).
