The Personal has the smallest heap of all of the units. I forget the figure but its
much less than the Pro. You have to make sure you don't run out of heap with
MemHandleNew, MemPtrNew, or new in C++. By the way, in OS 3.5 the size of dynamic
heap depends on total available memory. If you set POSE memory to 1meg you get a
smaller heap than if you POSE at 8meg. A dynamic dynamic heap size. The size of
dynamic heap was static in prev OS versions.

Subject: Memory problem on PalmPilot Personal only. Does anyone know about
this?
My app, Quik Budget, has recently started failing on some PalmPilots. I
have been pulling my hair out because I couldn't get it to happen on POSE or
on a PalmPilot Pro. It turns out that it only happens on POSE with a
PalmPilot Personal release rom. Memory size doesn't matter. It never
happens with a PalmPilot Pro or a 2.0 debug ROM.
The error occurs when my app tries to allocate memory. The message is:
"Quik Budget" 2.6.4 reports "MemoryMgr.c, Line:3926, Invalid handle".
If this is the latest version ....
Does anyone know of any PalmPilot Personal specific problems with memory
allocation? Any ideas about a work-around?
Thanks,
Scott Maxwell
