I have been sending out a lengthy Palm VII white paper (diatribe) in
sections. The third (and last) section covers compression. I have been
sending a lot of email back and forth to Palm.net trying to get Palm to
make an official statement on some stuff about billing that I
documented. I have also sent an email to Palm proper hoping to get some
official feedback from them before releasing info on clipper
compression.
There are basically two areas of concern - I believe that there may be a
copyright issue with the compression. I also was admitted into the
seeding program just prior to completing part III. Although I did not
use the seeding materials in my research, I want to make sure that I
stay in compliance with the agreement.
Don't get the wrong idea - Palm.net has been very responsive, it just
takes time to get technically precise answers. I have not heard back
from Palm support yet, but they are obviously pretty busy. I am just
trying to be cautious and cover my bases before I distribute the last
part of the paper.

Subject: Decompression Algorithm
Has anyone written the C (CodeWarrior) code to decompress data in the
5/8-bit Compression mode that the PQA Format documentation describes?
If so, are you willing to share that snippet?
Thanks for any feedback!
Very truly yours,
Rob G.
