Basically no.

The INet library looks socket like, but it really is pretty much a
dedicated mechanism for supporting web query apps. For example, Socket
Write is not implemented. You also have a very limited range of ports
available to you (actually, I've only ever gotten 2 ports to work, but
Palm documents more).

You can actually get pretty much anything working on a VII that you can
get working on a more conventional network stack - the catch being that
a lot of things require a dedicated web server to help the VII out.

Subject: Basic Palm.Net question

Do I get an IP address with a Palm VII ? Can I open a socket connection
etc
and do other things with the Palm Vii + palm.net subscription
just as if I was using a PC connected to the net with an ISP ?

I plan to write KVM Java network apps and was wondering if they would
work
with the Palm VII wireless internet connection.
What I also want to know is if the Palm.net for palm VII is like OmniSky
modem for Palm 5 ?

Thanks
Shahed.
