I add stuff after the category info all the time. In fact, the built-in memo pad does
it too, storing the sort order there.
There were some problems with earlier versions of HotSync that would truncate the
AppInfo block if it was bigger than 512 bytes, and other wierdnesses, but I believe
all of that has been fixed.
Perhaps your problem is that you are not word aligning things? If I remember right,
the standard category stuff is an odd length, so there is an implied extra byte right
after it.
