This works, but you're not going to get positional information - you may
end up displaying record 14 as the first record in the display, which is
not exactly what the user had on-screen.  If you care aboiut the
distinction, you may want to keep "first displayed record" (3) and
"currently selected record" (11).  Maybe even "number of displayed records".
