Did you rebuild your app with the 3.5 SDK?
If you did, then you've automatically enabled 'smart gadgets', which is a
new feature in the 3.5 OS. Smart gadgets now draw at the proper time, and
respond to pen events.
Apps built with the old SDKs should not run into problems like this,
because their gadgets are by definition dumb gadgets.
...or at least that's my theory. There could be some other side effect of
smart gadgets that's causing your trouble.
