Can't you use MemHandleSize() on the handle you get from DmGetResource? I
might have the name of the function wrong, but there is a function to
retrieve the size of the chunk referred to by a handle.
How does that help you get a resource -index-, though? For that, I think
there's a data manager function which returns a resource index given a
handle and db ref.
