While you can't use VC6, I think you'd find the CodeWarrior Lite tools
(free) more familiar.  The Constructor tool also makes resource editing
(very frequent for Palm programming) much easier.  (The prc toolset for
resources may have improved since I last looked.)

The Acrobat documentation won't help you get started with CodeWarrior but
is very useful once you're setup and actually building code.  Also there is
a preview of one of the Palm Programming books (Rhodes & Maceehan)
available on the O'Reilly site (or via a link off the Palm developer web
site)--it's a bit dated (the 2nd edition is due out "real soon now") but
has some information on the different development environments.
