This is something I have been kvetching about for
a long time. Maybe with enough voices they will
do something about it.
The thing is, there is a tool (from the Mac environment)
called "Rez" which -does- compile resources from
text files. It even has the capability for defining new
resource templates, which I think is wonderful. "Rez"
is being provided with CW, but only as a kind of
"back door" into the resource blob. You can decompile
your resource into Rez code, and you can compile
Rez code into your resource, but you can not make
the Rez code the "source" for your resource, nor will
Constructor work with Rez files directly.
I really think that Metrowerks/Palm (who is in charge
of CW these days, Palm isn't it?) should address this
issue.
Oh, there is also PilRC, and a CW plugin for it was
just announced ... I haven't given that a try. Are there
any visual tools for creating resources in PilRC source
form?
