The launcher is known to have significant performance problems in 3.5. I'm
not sure why it would be much slower than pervious OS launchers though.
In any case, performance is being addressed. I can't really comment on
time frames or specific plans, but in the current OS the need to handle
large number of databases in the launcher is what we call a third party
opportunity :->
