I do not believe this is a problem with POSE since any program compiled
with prc-tools 2.0 that throws an exception will crash both pose and
a real Palm. It looks like a prc-tools problem. I haven't spoken up about
it because it's pretty clear that C++ support is currently pretty broken
and I figured it was a FAQ. If you step through any exception-throwing
code with gdb it becomes evident the problem is with the compiler.
Is there any chance that prc-tools development might be opened up so that
it can make progress more quickly? Developers need access to the latest
snapshots and a better means of discussing bugs and submitting patches than
just pilot.programmer.gcc. That would create an incentive to work on
additional projects such as a stripped down STL port. Right now, the
development is too closed to encourage any kind of participation. Making
developers wait for prc-tools 2.1, which may or may not address problems
with C++ support isn't the right way to go when you can have those developers
fixing C++ support problems that they care about and submitting patches.
I can offer to host any mailing lists or CVS repositories once I make it out
of DSL purgatory, or SourceForge could host it, but it would be preferable
if Palm would take the initiative on these items.
