I don't think there's a de-facto standard.
Not a single database of the 202 files in my backup directory uses the
dbname-<CRID> convention.
There are various issues with such a convention
- users might not understand what a secret!-Scr2.prc file is (a special
version, or what?)
- problems with special characters in creator ids (e.g. hotsync on windows
will use the same pdb name for different database names that contain special
chars)
- case sensitivity of creator ids vs. case-insensitivity of desktop
platforms
- compatibility to older versions.
The only solution I see is for Palm to register both creator ids and
database names. Or introduce a hierarchical namespace into PalmOS :-)
