Hi Respected Palm Developers,

My name is Neelesh Chitari.
I have just recently become a member of the 'Palm Developer Forum' and I am
very much benefited by the information
that I am getting from the other respected members of the forum.
I am working on a Palm project. The project is a Lease Application. It is
already developed in VB and our task is to make it Palm-compliant.

We(a team of two) are working on this new platform for a month and have
developed the first version. In this version we learnt to program for PalmOS in
C using the CodeWarrior IDE.We have learnt to use forms,GUI and other basic
programming skills. We are also able to provide database support to our
application.

Now that we are well aquainted with the new platform,we want to develop a
more robust new version which will have some added features.

For that, first of all we need to import database from desktop to palmtop.
I have already gone through the 'Palm Desktop' (Organizer Software that comes
with CodeWarrior) which helps us in this context. But it can import databases
for its built-in applications like Memo,Date,ToDo,Address and Expense only.
I can import my data by incorporating my records into one of these
applications databases.(I incorporated them in the Memo's database) But
then in my application I need to open that database and search for my records
which is not logical.
Again the format of my records is likely to change, hence I want an
alternative to import my data in whatever format I need instead of relying on
abovementioned databases.
Is there any way around this problem or if Whatever I want to does not seem
feasible
and there is another option available please let me know.

My query is :
I WANT TO IMPORT MY DATABASE FROM DESKTOP TO PALMTOP IN A FORMAT(RECORD
STRUCTURE) AS REQUIRED BY MY APPLICATION.

Secondly,my application consists of a database field called 'Quotation
Number'(QN).
We are generating cash flows(say some strings) for each QN Hence we require
another database which will store QN and respective flows.
I have read in the documentation that I can set 'Categories' which are similar
to folders
and store related records (having same QN) in that folders.

HOW TO SET THE CATEGORIES PROGRAMMATICALLY ?
I don't want to use the list resource which is often used for the categories.

Finally,I would like to know about PALM CONDUIT.

Regards,
Neelesh
