I remember browsing a Palm shareware site and seeing a remote control
program.  Probably not as full featured as what you want though.

But, really, how do you propose to protect the Palm screen/stylus from all
of
the orange Cheezy Poof residue when you are watching TV while
eating Cheezy Poofs!?
