You're probably right. I didn't know about the preference so I didn't check 
it. I agree with the others, though. I like having the option of using a 
modem, so I can eventually check time delay, dial-up delay, etc, for 
usability, if nothing else. But setting it to "on" by default seems like a 
nifty idea!
