i am fairly new at the serial aspect but the need arouse for me to explore
it. i really could use some assistance or guidance on how to communicate
with a device that i connect to the serial port of the handheld.

i am attempting to communicate through the serial port to a device (msr &
printer). i have two routes i am attempting to take with communicating with
it,
1) the printcap, but it is probably out of date so i attempted to find an
update on the website ref'ed from the docs but was unsucessful. where can i
find the updated print cap??

2) so i am attempting to open the serial port and send messages. but it
doesn't seem to work this way. it does know i'm sending it instructions
because it spits out garble on the printer, and the msr light blinks, but
doesn't stay on or complete what its doing. what steps do i take to send
params i
construct in a string to the unit through the serial port. do i use serial
port manger or the new serial port manager?

help appriciated =)
