Only in 3.3 and higher. Prior to 3.3, they'd look pretty messed up if you
put them in a horizontal configuration.
It isn't an officially supported fact that horizontal scrollbars seem to
work in 3.3 and higher, but it might become so... particularly if people
tell me that they've tried it and it works well in their experience, and
that they want it supported!
