DateToDOWDMFormat documentation

The current documentation for the DateToDOWDMFormat API says:

"The string passed must include the name of the day of the week."

To me, this implies that I set the day name in the string prior to the call.
However, testing with OS 2.0 through 3.5 shows this isn't required. Did I
misread the above?
