It's probably not a great suggestion, but you could use the serial cradle
plugged directly into one of the COM ports.
(Yes, I know you probably didn't get one shipped with your Visor Deluxe
otherwise you wouldn't have posted in the first place :) )
As far as using the USB cradle with HyperTerm, or Procomm et.al. you're
not going to find any configuration item within the desktop to somehow
route data from the USB port to the UART that is on the com board. I think,
however, there is a way to put the Visor in somekind of debugger mode that
will enable its serial port. How you connect to it, (without the aforementioned
serial cradle) I cannot be sure of.
Hang in there, though. These folks are sharp and will be able to give you some
positive direction.

Subject: USB problem
Hello.
I was recently trying to use the example serial I/O application included in
"Palm for Dummies". The book reommended that Windows Hyper Terminal be used
to receive the text that is sent from the application on the Palm OS device.
I tried setting up the Hyper Terminal to receive data at COM1, but then I
realized that my handspring is connected to the desktop via a USB
connection. However, in the settings of Hyper Terminal, I can't find
anywhere to specify that the terminal should receieve at a USB port? Is
there any other desktop application similar to Hyper Terminal that'll allow
me to specify it to receive at USB port? Would appreciate any help.
regards,
