Hi Gaurav,
I am using Win 2000, CW 6, POSE 3.0a6, and SDK 3.1. This combination is
working productively for me. But, I've run into a few glitches since I first
started using the combination. Some comments:
1. The "BDWM not found" error sometimes occurs in my combination. But, this
is easily resolved by shutting CW 6 and POSE down and restarting it. I
usually don't see it.
2. There is the problem which has been discussed many times here with the
2nd debug session not coming up. The workaround is to press ENTER in a
console window after the startup of the debug session seems to "hang" (see
the "Win2000 & CW6" thread 5/18/2000).
3. There are some broad glitches in the Constructor, but I cannot say they
are specific to using Win 2000. Frankly, constructor was buggy when I was
using Win 95. It is still buggy on Win 2000, but the bugs are a little
different. I view this as a Constructor problem, not a Win 2000 problem.
Constructor has quite a personality.
4. For reasons I have not yet determined, running Constructor on a ThinkPad
770 with Win 2000 causes the machine to abruptly power off (I'm hearing Jar
Jar Binks say "How rude!"). I run it on a desktop with Win 2000 and this
problem does not occur.
5. By itself, Win 2000 is a much more stable platform than Win 95. I used to
have to reboot Win 95 one to several times a workday. Since I have been
using Win 2000 on the same hardware, I have never had to reboot (about 2
months now).
Regarding:
> 2).does it work perfectly on Win2000
Answer: No. But, I think you are setting the bar too high. I think
productivity is a more realistic measure than perfection.
There are many platforms and development environments to choose from. From
the comments on this list, people here are getting results from all of them.
I cannot say that mine is the best one as I have not tried the others. I
know one thing for sure: It is not "perfect". :-)
I have not regretted spending the money on CodeWarrior.
I hope this info is helpful. Good luck!
