um... "hoarding"? i really dont mind about the two different versions
of prc-tools. am i considered a "hoarder" because i prefer to use the
prc-tool set that John has built?
for me to be "non-hoarding" - must i use your version?
i of course want to see *one* version of prc-tools. and i suggested
previously that you and John join forces in some way top agree on
a standard for these development teams. your constant baggering of
each other does not support the developers who use prc-tools. it just
makes them want to use something like CodeWarrior instead, because
you are making the environment unstable.
to be honest with you, i dont care about this GNU crap you are throwing
at me.. it is just a load of BULLSHIT. free software is free software.
i dont endorse the prc-tools of palm, nor do i endorse the prc-tools
that you maintain. if someone else started writing a new prc-tools, and
it worked for me? i would use it.
do you see me linking to a specific version of prc-tools on my website?
i think you are taking this a little bit personally, and seriously this
is not profressional at all. i dont reference prc-tools at all in the
documentation (hence, not making a LEAN towards you or John). on my
website i state:
"... so the entire Palm Computing Platform development community can
obtain the latest and greated of PilRC ..."
this means, i dont mind people using CodeWarrior NOR either version of
prc-tools. if i personally prefer to use the prc-tools available that
John has built? that has nothing to do with the "discussions" about
if or not PilRC can be "bundled" with either version.
wes: have a chat with michael, it would be best in the development
community if you suggest that the LATEST (v2.5b3) version of
PilRC be shipped, and not an older version like 2.4
2.4 has no color support - and you will only be reducing the "potential"
set of users for your version of prc-tools.. why develop when you cannot
have color?
i really want to see the end of this "child like" behavior.. it is
starting to go too far. you are both grownups.. either go outside and
fight it out, or be sensible about it and merge your development
efforts.. i know it will be hard for your EGO.. but think about
everyone else in this case.
palmos-dev-forum: although we have not heard from michael recently,
i thought it was appropriate to let you know about
these issues outlined here.
please do not start this as a HUGE thread again on the mailing list.

hopefully, ONE day these two "unix geeks" will sort out there
differences and allow the development to go on. i would strongly
suggest that someone else, NOT John nor Michael take over the
maintainership of prc-tools. neither of them are appropriate for the
job if they cannot sort out their differences.
cheers.
