Dear Developers,
I am trying to get a response from the Palm Development team on this issue,
but I wanted to run it past all of you to see if you have run into the same
type of situation.
We have a Windows 98 PC running MS Outlook 2000 that several users are
syncing to. The problem and how to recreate it is as follows:
When you hotsync email using the Palm Mail Conduit, the order of events that
the conduit executes should logically be as follows:
1. Move email from the Palm Outbox to the Mail Client Outbox (MS Outlook in
this case).
2. Instruct the Mail Client to execute a Send & Receive operation.
3. Move emails from the Mail Client Inbox to the Palm Inbox.
This order of events insures that all emails are sent and received in ONE
Hotsync. However, it is requiring TWO Hotsyncs for emails to actually be
sent and received. It appears that the order of events used by the Palm
Mail Conduit is actually 2,1,3 instead of 1,2,3. To recreate this problem,
follow these steps:
1. Install MS Outlook 2000 in using the Corporate Workgroup configuration
(this is
necessary in order for multiple profiles to be setup for multiple
users to
hotsync to different email profiles)
2. Setup at least 2 profiles to different mailboxes on any email server.
3. Install the Palm Desktop.
4. Setup at least 2 users in the Palm Desktop and setup their Mail conduit
to
synchronize with the 2 profiles setup in MS Outlook 2000.
5. Enter a new email on one of the Palm devices (call it Palm A) with a
To: field of the
Palm B's email address.
6. Hotsync Palm A once. (you will notice that the email is no longer on
the Palm Outbox)
7. Hotsync Palm B. (the email will not have been delivered)
8. Check to see if the recipient (Palm B)has received the email. (They
won't
because it is still setting in the MS Outlook Outbox for Palm A)
9. Hotsync Palm A again. (now the original email is sent to the server
and is no
longer in the Outlook Outbox for Palm A)
10. Hotsync Palm B again.
11. Check to see if the recipient (Palm B) has recieved the email. (it
will now have
been succesfully delivered)
As you can see, if the conduit performed the hotsync events in 1,2,3 order
then this problem would not exist and the Palm B user would have received
the email in step 8 above.
Any feedback and or workarounds that anyone out there (including 3rd Party
Mail Apps) that may address this issue would be greatly appreciated.

then please find my email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] and reply ASAP. This is an
urgent issue and can easily be resolved with some quick programming changes.
