I'm working on a project to get a palm IIIxe to talk to a device that isn't
IrDA compliant. (i.e. it doesn't use the 3/16 pulse width for data
transmission, and the levels are fliped (ie. 1 = low, and 0 = 3/16 hi
pulse). I have tried just about everything I can think of at this point.
I've messed with the SrmControl() options, to no avail, and I've download
the manuals from Motorola and messed with the UART's control regesters. One
of these regester shows the option for turning IrDA support off and on. When
I "disable" IrDA support I can get "something" out that the serial device
can see, but not recognize (it's just a load of garbage). I've looked for
commands in the PalmOS (I know that PalmOS 3.5 supports IrComm, but it seems
that it only working w/ IrDA compatable devices). I've taken the Palm apart
and it looks like there isn't an NDAC (the hardware to do the wave
converting) on the board, so I'm assuming it's doing this in software, but I
can't seem to figure out where.I would love to hear from anyone out there
who has any ideas or suggestions on this matter.
