The much easier step-by-step instructions to hotsync locally using
"Network Hotsync" with POSE.
These instructions are intended for developers or other POSE users who
want to synchronize the Palm OS Emulator with the same PC they are
running POSE on. Modifications to these directions may be needed if a
user wishes to synchronize with a PC on an attached network. They were
written on a Windows machine, and probably have Windows specific
instructions in them. It should be pretty painless to adapt them to
other platforms that support hotsyncing.
----Configure Hotsync on your Desktop PC
1. Right-Click the hotsync icon in the system tray
2. Enable "Network". A check mark will appear next to it if it's
already enabled.
----Configure POSE:
1. Right-Click on the POSE window to bring up the Menu. Choose
"Settings/Properties".
2. Check the box next to "Redirect NetLib Calls to TCP/IP".
3. Click "OK"
----Configure Hotsync on the Palm
1. Open the "HotSync App".
2. "Menu/Options/Modem Sync Preferences" - set to "Network"
3. "Menu/Options/LANSync Preferences" - set to "LANSync"
4. "Menu/Options/Primary PC Setup" - enter "127.0.0.1" under "Primary PC
Address" (the middle one)
5. Under the "Modem Sync" icon on the main Hotsync screen, tap "Select
Service". Then tap "Done". You don't need to change any info, you just
need to have something selected. You can create a new profile if you
like.
6. Tap the "Modem Sync" button. Your PC should now kick into action,
and will probably ask you to choose an account, or create a new one. It
is highly recommended that you create a new account just for POSE.
