To be fair to the original poster, crashes are not all the developer's fault.
A crash may happen due to interaction with a buggy or not fully compatible
hack, or due to a bug in the OS, or the user might just do a soft reset
manually. An app should be designed so that a reset can happen at just about
any time without catastrophic damage to its databases, and so the poster's
question is sensible.
