there is one free tool called 'resco locker', it helped me in similar case. i
don't know what they do internally

another hint - its possible that your dbcache doesn't have enough free space
which causes a lot of traffic. try to clear it before you start sorting. it may
take more time at startup, but then sorting may be faster. to clear cache try to
do FtrPtrNew to get some big block of memory and if its succesfull then free it
immediately.
