I'm not sure how you're drawing that conclusion? Unless I'm mistaken, 
AutoOffTime is set to the original value when you soft reset as a safety 
protocol. So even in the event that your application crashes everything will be 
fine. Other than that, I'm not sure how SysSetAutoOffTime is unsafe.

Actually frequently resetting the off time counter is much safer.
