As Alex says, custom launch API's are one possibility. Just very few apps
support this launching, but the most popular apps often do. You have to
investigate it case by case, I don't know about any central repository for
these things.

Smaller data files that don't need to be edited can be often passed also via
Exchange Manager - i.e. the same way as beam works = passing by value. While
most important apps support this data passing, the user experience might not
always be optimal. May advice is to use this way as a backup possibility if
nothing better can be used.
