a nasty way to do this is send an SMS to some email address your server can access. It will come there as if from [EMAIL PROTECTED] if the phone # is 555-666-7788. Then you can have your server reply with the number. This works reliably, but of course requires setting up such a server and at a cost af an SMS to the user.
