Try running all of the applications (HotSync, Codewarrior, etc) in Windows 2000
Compatibility mode, and as an Administrator. To do this right click on the
shortcut for all of your applications, then click properties. Click the
"Compatibility" tab, click "Run this program in compatibility mode for:", and
select "Windows 2000" from the drop down list. Finally, click the "Run this
program as an administrator" then click Apply/OK. If, for some reason, the
Run-As-Administrator checkbox is grayed out simply right click the shortcut and
click "Run as administrator".

I had a lot of trouble getting HotSync, Garnet OS Development Suite, etc to
work, but doing the above fixed my problems. Vista works great, you just gotta
fudge with it a bit to get everything working.

Hopefully this will help!

Subject: Codewarrior debug on real Dana does not recognise console mode, Vista
Business

I have an XP Pro laptop on which I can debug on my
AlphaSmart Dana, using Codewarrior for Palm OS v9.3, no problems. My new Vista
Business desktop machine, with the Codewarrior project, IDE etc installed
identically as on the laptop, fails to connect when I try debug on the Dana. I
close of the HotSync Manager first, run DotDotTwo on the Dana and it then says
it is in console mode, and then I try to initiate the debug session to the
Dana via the USB port. On the laptop, this works with no problems. On the Vista
machine, I get a "CodeWarrior for Palm OS Debugger" dialog with a message which
says, ..."Please place the device in console mode by entering 'shortcut'..2".
And if I then click OK, another message tells me the connection attempt failed.
I've tried everything I can think of to make it work, with no joy. Is this a
Vista problem, or is there something more I can try?

Thanks, bruce_waters
