I am using the Actisys -100s Cable plugged into a PC com port and a Palm IIIc. All communication is done using the New Serial Manager. I have written a Palm Pilot program that talks to a PC using a rs-232 wire or IRComm. The program work fine using the wire. When I use IRCOMM the program works but data transmition is extremely slow (especially when I have to send and when receive just a few bytes at a time, I think this is because IR sends data in packets). Once in a while the data speed improves to a level that almost matches the wire speed. I think this has something to do with the negotiation during the discovery process. It seems that if I am lucky enough to open the ircm port on the Palm exactly as the cable is doing its Discovery sequence the overall connection speed improves. Unfortunately I am restricted to using IrComm and the Actisys cable so using the IR lib is not really an option. Has any one else had a problem like this? Or any suggestions on how to fix this? Can I control or intiate a Discovery Opertion from my side and pass this info to the IrComm section of the Serial Manager? Thanks, Tom. P.S. I originally posted this msg to the comm forum but got no help so I'm trying my luck here -- For information on using the Palm Developer Forums, or to unsubscribe, please see http://www.palmos.com/dev/tech/support/forums/
