Hi Folks, I think that this is a VERY bad idea. Take, for example, my GF. She has had a Treo 650(now a GSPDA M70), Wireless enabled - but no Internet contract as of now(f*** T-Mobile Austria).
If your app automatically assumed GSPDA M70=GPRS box=data available, she'd run up insane costs(6 Euros/MB) very swiftly...which would guarantee you of her lifelong love to your products! IMHO, asking the user works best. Hey, even Palm itself did so with their Palm.net service - IMHO, the wireless char still is in the ASCII set ;).
