On VB/VC for WinCE: >> Actually, it's only $7.50 in the US... >> http://www.microsoft.com/pocketpc/developer.asp >> It's VB and VC for embedded devices, not the full blown VB/VC stuff.
And it is a far inferior product to its desktop "big brothers". It crashes regularly and occasionally just stops talking to the device (requiring a reboot of the system). It does require Win98 Second Edition for the devo environment .. and NT 4.0 with SP4 or Win2000 to run the emulator. Processor requirements are PII-200 and it needs 32 Meg of RAM and 500 Meg of hard drive space for a minimal install. Compared to the 150 Meg that Codewarrior takes, including all of the sample code.. its hard to imagine what extras were so needed to make it so large.. There are a number of functions that are not implemented on CE (too many to list), but if you know MFC, you won't have a lot of difficulty programming for the platform. MFC tends to make your executables rather large.. but the CE machines all have more memory, right? :) -- For information on using the ACCESS Developer Forums, or to unsubscribe, please see http://www.access-company.com/developers/forums/
