In your preferences screen:
In the upper right hand corner, select Buttons from the list box.
You'll be able to configure it any way you want from there...
Here's a programmatical way to do so.
PrefSetPreference( prefHard3CharAppCreator, appFileCreator );
where appFileCreator is the Creator ID of your application.
