Take a look at http://palmorder.modusmedia.com/. They don't sell "serial cables" anymore, but they do sell "hotsync cables". These are cables that are wired to connect the Palm device to your computer. Note: different palm devices may require different hotsync cables: the connector on the V is not the same as the connector on the III !
If you want to connect your Palm device to a modem, the cable is wired wrong for that. The device that can fix that for you is called a "null modem". You can get these at Fry's or other major computer stores. Finally, the connectors: the Palm hotsync cable ends in a "DB9F" connector, which plugs into the "DB9M" serial connectors frequently found on modern computers & laptops. What sort of connector your modem has, I don't know. Many still have (last time I looked ... if I recall correctly) "DB25F" connectors. So ... ideally you need a null modem adapter (or cable) with a DB9M on one end and a DB25M on the other end. Tell this to the guy in the hardware dept. at Fry's. If you can't get one cable to do this you might be able to get two cables, or a cable and a little adapter widget that ends up w/ the same result. -- -Richard M.
