Brillant! But it doesn't work: I enqueue a custom event after calling 
UIBrightnessAdjust, yet, I receive my event before the UI
dialog pops up (as shown by displaying an alert upon receiving my
event.) Suspecting a two-step process, I enqueued a second custom
event upon receiving the first one, to no avail.

So Dmitry wins, users will have to install BrightnessFix in
order to use this screen dimming feature!
