I don't think this is correct. A long time ago I believe when I started out I
tried just creating a field with out calling FldSetTextHandle and it did not do
anything too. Anyway, I always give it a handle to a record or allocate memory
for fields. So, I suggest trying this and ignore what the 'dummies' book said.

Do you have an event loop? If not, copy the event loop from one of the examples
since the event loop calls some functions that handle the events for text entry
into a field. Nothing is automatic in programming you have to tell the stupid
computer what to do :>) If another function handles something for you that is
what you have to find out.
